Our School in the International Art Week to India Apeejay Stya University

Recommended by Dr. Zeng Qingying, a visiting professor of our college, we build friendly relationship with Apeejay Stya University, India, in such fields as students exchange, teachers exchange, joint research and joint training. Last year, a delegation from Apeejay Stya University came long away to participate in the “2014 Fashion Summer of Chengdu Textile College & Raidy Boer”, which lay a solid foundation for our further cooperation, including this visit to the International Art Week in India.

Mr. Xia Ping, together with other 14 members was invited and arrived India on March 11. A grand and traditional welcoming ceremony surprised our teachers and students, the Dutch team, local politicians and entrepreneurs. During the coming 10 days, accompanied by Indian students, our team is divided into 5 groups to different workshops, naming Kutch embroidery, Suzant embroidery, paper-cutting, jewelry in New Delhi and wood-craving, to finish related handwork under instruction of local craftsmen. And Mr. Xia also gives a speech on “The Traditional and Modern Chinese Art” and our teacher Mr. Zeng Bin also explains the “Modernization of Chinese Handicraft Art”. The international members show great interests in our traditional art such as paper-cutting. Mr. Xia is even invited to show it on the spot.

After three days’ hard working, our students finally finish the handiwork and make related presentation. Four days’ teamwork and sharing enhance the Sino-India relationship. Weaving goodbye to AID teachers and students with tear in their eyes, our team drove to Apeejay Stya University, India's first liberal arts college. The advanced educational philosophy, beautiful campus views, the traditional Indian dance and delicious Indian food impress us deeply.
